The tribunal resumed its proceedings on May 3 after a gap of 73 days and was again adjourned for eight months after receiving the depositions of 25 witnesses out of 100.

Two Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami Bangladesh (HuJI-B) militants, who were arrested from their house at Baniachang sub-District of Habibganj on May 5, were placed on a three-day remand in Judicial Magistrate's Court in Habiganj on May 6, reports Daily Star. They were identified as Quashem Billah alias Noman and his brother Arif Billah. Police said that they were arrested following a statement given by another HuJI-B cadre, Mizanur Rahman Mithu, during interrogation at TFI cell in capital Dhaka. Mithu was earlier arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion in connection with the killing of former Finance Minister SAMS Kibria. He also gave a confessional statement before a Magistrate. Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rafiqul Islam said Mithu told them during interrogation that Quashem and Arif were with them at a training camp of the outfit in a hilly area at Dinarpur under Nabiganj sub-District in Habiganj District.

On information, Khulshi police arrested Nazmul Haque (19), a first year student of electrical and electronics engineering department of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, from Sholoshahar area in the afternoon of May 15 on suspicion of his involvement with the outfit, Police sources said. During interrogation, Nazmul confessed that he knows Chittagong regional coordinator Russell and went twice to his Khulshi residence. It is committed to brining an end to the culture of impunity to crimes of genocides, crimes against humanity and war crimes at the national and international levels, he said. The Minister was speaking at the Review Conference of the Rome Statute of International Criminal Court (ICC) in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. “We have initiated the trail of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 war of liberation,” he said. “This would bring justice to victims, heal the wound that we are carrying for the last 39 years, end the shameful legacy and help Bangladesh move forward with its agenda of development”, he added.
