Bangladesh will retain Islam as the ‘State Religion’. A special Government Committee prepared proposals for the amendment, and the Government will send those proposals to the Parliament for passing as a law, reports Times of India. The Hasina Government however says the proposed changes won't affect the legal system. Inheritance and other family laws already are based on religion. The decision was made late on June 19, at a Cabinet meeting. At the same time, Cabinet meeting chaired by Hasina also endorsed equal status and equal rights for practicing other religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity.

Two senior ministers A.M.A. Muhith and A.K. Khandaker expressed their discontent during a cabinet meeting and protested the inclusion of “Islam as the state religion” of the Republic in the reformed Constitution, according to All Headlines News. Hizbut Tawhid openly declares its publication named 'Dajjal' as "anti-Christ" and is spreading the content of this book, which is filled with hate speech against Christians, Jews and non-Muslims, via Facebook and other social networks. All such illegal activities are conducted from its headquarters in Dhaka. It also maintains close links with various Islamist militancy outfits including Taliban, Laskar-e-Toiba (LeT), Sipah-e-Sahaba, al-Qaeda etc. This group is funded by dubious Arab sources as well as some fanatic Muslims in the Muslim dominated nations in the world. Founder of Hizbut Tawhid, Bayezid Khan Panni aka Selim Panni was a collaborator of Pakistani occupation forces during the war of independence of Bangladesh. It is even apprehended that, Hizbut Tawhid is a brainchild of Pakistani Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), as in most cases, Panni pronounced his support towards separatist groups as well as ISI-patronized Islamists in India. Hizbut Tawhid has also expanded its network in a number of Asian countries in the recent years. Hizbut Tawhid also owns pages in Facebook including : Hezbut Tawheed, Dajjal and True Islam, Ayman Bin Moshi, This Islam Is Not Islam [Jihadist content], Dajjal The Judeo-Christian Civilization, Islam, Islam and Dajjal, Anti Dajjal, Dajjal Documentary, Awareness of Dajjal, Beware of Dajjal, Dajjal Representative etc.

Bangladesh Parliament on June 30, retained Islam's status as the ‘State Religion’ and the Arabic phrase "Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim" with its translation "In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful/ In the name of the Creator, the Merciful" was made a part of the Constitution with the passage of the 15th Constitutional amendment bill, reports Daily Star. The latest amendment also allowed religion based politics which had been banned on papers in 2010 after the cancellation of the Fifth Amendment. The 15th Amendment bill also brought a significant change to the charter, according to which, the legality of trials of War Crime suspects, who were not part of any armed force or auxiliary force in 1971, cannot be challenged in any court. However, 12 political parties, headed by Abdur Rab Yusufi of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, called a 30-hour-long countrywide hartal (general shut-down) protesting “removal of the phrase Absolute Faith and Trust in Allah from the Constitution”, reinstatement of Secularism and Socialism as Fundamental Principles of the charter and formulation of the Women Development Policy. The hartal will be observed from 6:00am of July 10 to 12:00 noon of July 11.
