A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) team on November 1 arrested the second wife of the chief of the Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and his sister-in-law from their rented house at Mayakanon area under Sabujbagh Police Station in capital Dhaka, though the JMB Chief managed to escape, reports Daily Star. "Maulana Saidur Rahman went out of the house just 20 minutes before the drive," Major M.M Shafiqur Rahman of the RAB told Daily Star. The duo was identified as Saidur’s wife Nurunnahar Himu and his younger brother Muktasim Billah Rubel's wife Asma Mimi. Saidur Rahman has been reportedly working as the JMB chief since the execution of the erstwhile chief Abdur Rahman along with five other JMB leaders in 2007.

The ‘foreign secretary’ Sashadhar Choudhury and ‘finance secretary’ Chitraban Hazarika of the Indian terrorist outfit United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) were arrested by intelligence officials from the Sector 3 area of Dhaka in the mid-night of November 1, according to Sentinel. Reports indicate that following confirmation of detention of two top ULFA leaders by Bangladesh, India on November 5 opened diplomatic channels to get them back into the country, adds Assam Tribune. The ‘deputy commander-in-chief’ of ULFA, Raju Baruah, however, claimed that their two leaders were already handed over to India by Bangladesh. Without naming India, Raju Baruah told a section of media in Assam through e-mail or telephonic talk that Bangladeshi intelligence officials arrested the duo from the Sector 3 area in Dhaka and handed them over to the "enemy". Raju Baruah further said that Bangladesh Police had raided some other areas in Dhaka where, they believed, the ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa was hiding. He also warned Bangladesh that the sovereignty of the country would be at stake if it did not set Sashadhar and Chitraban free. Meanwhile, the Indian Home Ministry officials denied this claim made by the ULFA.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on November 2 arrested Moulana Sheikh Abdus Salam, founder of the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami-Bangladesh (HuJI-B), for suspected links with the August 21, 2004 grenade attack on an Awami League (AL) rally, reports Daily Star. However, the CID officials did not give the exact time and place of Salam's arrest. They only said that they arrested him from Dhaka on November 2. A Dhaka court placed the arrestee on a six-day remand in the afternoon. Abdul Kahar Akand, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police and also investigation officer of the August 21 grenade attack case, said they made the arrest acting on the confessional statement of the detained HuJI-B leader Mufti Abdul Hannan. Moulana Salam was earlier arrested by the CID on March 23, 2009 in connection with the blast at a CPB rally in the city on January 20, 2001. But he was released on bail on July 20, 2009. Indian authorities have arrested two top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, who infiltrated into Bangladesh to lead a 15-member squad in an attempt to attack the US and Indian missions in Dhaka, sources in the law-enforcement agencies said on November 23, reports Daily Star. The LeT militants, identified as T. Nasir and Sharfaraz from Indian State of Kerala, were arrested by the Indian intelligence officials soon after they crossed the Bibir Bazaar border in Comilla District on November 6, the sources added. They were reportedly members of the LeT suicide squad and were earlier hiding in the hilly areas of Chittagong District for around one and a half months and trying to collect explosives from the Rohingya rebels for the attack. Funds for launching the attacks on the US Embassy and Indian High Commission were being provided by LeT leaders in Pakistan, said an unnamed official of the Detective Branch. Sources said that T. Nasir, wanted in India for a number of terrorist attacks, was supposed to lead the 15-member team formed with five LeT militants from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan each. They had planned to launch the attack on November 26, the same day the LeT terrorists carried out the Mumbai attack in 2008.
