Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two leaders and a member of the banned Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), identified as Mohammad Asaduzzaman alias Hazari, ‘chief’ of JMB Khulna divisional unit and also a Majlish-e-Shura committee member, Mohammad Wahab, ‘head’ of JMB Savar zone and JMB member Anwar Hossain from different parts of Dhaka City on March 5, reports Daily Star. RAB also seized several JMB publications and leaflets from the possession of the arrestees. Asaduzzaman was arrested from Sayedabad, Wahab from Gabtoli while Anwar was arrested from Abdullahpur in Uttara area of the city. Commander Mohammad Sohail, Director of RAB's Media and Legal Wing said all three were fugitives in the series bomb attack cases of 2005.

The second war crimes tribunal is likely to be announced on March 22, 2012 (today) to speed up the trail of those accused of crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh, reports The Independent. Justice ATM Fazle Kabir, a member of the present International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), is expected to be the head of the second tribunal. The first International Crimes Tribunal was formed on March 25, 2010, with Justice Md Nizamul Huq as its chairman. The existing tribunal is dealing with eight cases of crimes against humanity committed during the Liberation War of 1971. Six Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and two Bangladesh National Party (BNP) leaders are facing war crimes charges at the tribunal. The new tribunal is expected to start functioning from March 25 at the old High Court building, just next door to the present ICT chamber.

Government has announced a new tribunal to expedite the crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh with Justice ATM Fazle Kabir as its chairman, reports The Independent. Justice Fazle Kabir, who was a member of the first International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), will head a three-member new tribunal, which also includes Justice Obaidul Hasan and Mohammad Shahinur Islam, a gazette notification of law ministry said on March 22. The new tribunal is expected to start it function from March 25 onwards at the Old High Court Building, just next door to the present ICT chamber. The state minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs Advocate Qamrul Islam earlier said that the new tribunal would ease pressure on the first ICT, which has already been dealing with the cases against eight persons for their alleged involvement in the crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh since its inception on March 25, 2010.
