Cadres of the Janajuddha faction of the Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) shot dead another PBCP cadre, identified as Yasin Ali in Kotchandpur sub-district of Jhenidah on July 2, according to Daily Star. According to police sources, the PBCP cadres abducted the person from Ganna Bazar area, shot him at Talina village and left his body in a field of Ekra village. A person identifying himself as PBCP leader Dipok Roy called up the local journalists and claimed responsibility for the murder, saying that Yasin was an 'informer' of the police. Police, however, said that Yasin too was a PBCP leader.

The convicts are Mahfuz Khandaker alias Faruk, Kamal Hossain Duke, Mashiur Rahman, Redwan Haq, Shamim Hossain, and Rafiqul Islam. According to the prosecution, the JMB militants, led by Shamim Ahmed simultaneously set off bombs in front of the pourasava (municipal) chairman office, near a mosque and a high school on August 17 last year.

Three people, including two women, were killed and two others were injured by the cadres of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) at the bordering village of Kutkuchhari in Rangamati in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) on July 8. The dead have been identified as Prema Lata Chakma, Tulumoni Chakma, and Sushil Chakma. The United Peoples' Democratic Front (UPDF) has claimed the dead to be its members. New Age reports that anti-Ahmadiyya elements, suspected to be backed by the Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), announced on July 10 that they would drive out the Ahamadiyyas from Sarishabari in the Jamalpur district through a series of agitation programmes starting July 13. The movement is being led by Nurul Islam, a relative of jailed JMB chief Shaikh Abdur Rahman. Nurul Islam who is also the principal of a local madrassa (seminary) reportedly has been visiting different mosques in the locality asking people to lay siege to the Ahmadiyya mosque at Ejarpara on July 14.

Daily Star reports that a top aide to the Jamaat’ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) militant, Siddiqul Islam 'Bangla Bhai', identified as Bagmara upazila chief advisor Abdus Sattar Master was arrested on July 26 by the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a raid at Shikdari Bazar in Bagmara. Lieutenant Colonel Quazi Shamsuzzaman Khan, commander of Rajshahi Rab unit, confirmed Sattar Master's arrest and said he is a close associate of 'Bangla Bhai' and has been regrouping the outlawed JMB militants on the run. Rab members also apprehended several other JMB activists from Hamirkutsa, Sakoa, Goalkandi, Udpara, Polashi and Khatalbaria while Sattar Master's brother, another suspect, managed to escape.
