Salon owners were warned to halt their activities within the next two weeks. According to a written statement by the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, women’s beauty salons in Afghanistan will no longer be allowed to operate after July 23, 2023. Ministry further said, the cost of styling is extravagant and eyebrow shaping for adornment is in contradiction with Sharia law. The Taliban announced they would ban women’s beauty salons in Afghanistan on July 4.
