A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Birendra Yadav alias Saurabh alias Marks Baba, a member of the Bihar Jharkhand Special Area Committee (BJSAC) of the CPI-Maoist, wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and carrying a reward on his head in Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand, was arrested from a forest area near Jharna Mahulan under Dhibra Police Station limits in Aurangabad District of Bihar on July 20, reports The Times of India. The NIA had announced INR 500,000 and the Jharkhand government INR 2.5 million as rewards for any information about him. More than a dozen cases are pending against him in Bihar and Jharkhand. The Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar Police and Dhibra Police conducted a joint operation in Jharna Mahulan and its surrounding forest areas and arrested Birendra and sent him to judicial custody. Aurangabad Superintendent of Police (SP) Swapna Gautam Meshram said about a dozen cases have been registered against Birendra in various Police Stations in Aurangabad and Gaya Districts of Bihar and in many districts of Jharkhand. He had been wanted by the NIA, Bihar, and Jharkhand Police for more than a decade. Birendra also played a major role in raising money and weapons.
