On October 24, two United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) surrendered in Lekhapani area of Tinsukia District in Assam, reports The Sentinel. According to a senior official of the intelligence wing of the Assam Police as many as 54 militants including 42 from ULFA-I have surrendered till October 18. PK Bhuyan, the Deputy Inspector General of Police stated that “One of the big reasons for the surrender is because after the operations, the ULFA-I members had to disperse from their camps. It seems that has demoralised them”. The Northeast Today adds that the surrendered militants were identified as Bijitkanti Bora alias Luit Asom and Pranjal Kotoky alias Rana Asom.
