Two militants have been trapped after Security Forces (SFs) launched an operation on the outskirts of Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on April 6, reports Daily Excelsior. Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off Shah-e-Hamdan Colony in Gulab Bagh area on the outskirts of Srinagar after inputs about presence of two militants, and sealed all entry and exit points while as lights were installed to ensure smooth execution of operation. However, no contact was established yet.
Security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in a village in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on April 6, reports Daily Excelsior. Following specific information about presence of militants, a joint CASO was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at village Chitragam in Shopian, and conducted door-to-door searches in the area. “All the exit points were sealed while searches were also being conducted in nearby fields and orchards,” Police said, adding so far no contact was established with the militants.
Three anti-personnel mines were found and subsequently destroyed in a controlled explosion by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) in Samba District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on April 5, reports Daily Excelsior. The mines, which have gathered rust indicating that they had remained buried for a very long time, were found by a local resident during excavation work adjoining his field in Dera village around 7.45 pm on Monday, a Police official said, adding the police party immediately rushed to the spot and secured the place before informing the Samba Police’s BDS, who destroyed the explosives in a controlled explosion without causing any damage.
