During the search operation, Security Force (SF) personnel recovered five kilogrammes of live Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), suspectedly planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), and destroyed on the spot by the Bomb Detection Disposal Squad (BDDS) team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on September 17, reports mpcg.ndtv.in. According to the Police, a joint team of District Reserve Guards (DRG), CRPF 50th Corps, and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) 202 Battalion had gone on a search operation and, while patrolling along this route, saw the wire, after which they took immediate action and removed it.
Four Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, identified as Kartam Subaka, Madabi Kama, Kawasi Pandu, and Madabi Madkam, surrendered to the Police in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on September 17, reports pragativadi.com. Kartam Subaka, who was the ‘commander’ of the Chintagupha Maoist Dalam (armed squad), carried an INR 100,000 reward on his head. All the surrendered Maoists, working in the Naxal [Left Wing extremism, LWE] organisation for four to five years, were operating in Chintagupha Dalam on the Malkangiri (Odisha)-Sukma border.
