Leader of the United National Party (UNP) Ranil Wickremesinghe has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the President's House in Colombo on May 12, reports Colombo Page. Ranil Wickremesinghe has previously served five times as the island nation’s Prime Minister. Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath and Prof. Maithree Wickremesinghe were also present at the occasion. Wickremesinghe’s appointment as the prime minister for a sixth time comes after former Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned from the post on May 09, 2022.
