The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) said that the State would raise charges against those involved in the May 6, 2021 attack on Speaker Mohamed Nasheed as it acquires evidence against them, reports Avas.mv. On May 6, 2021, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion was carried out against Speaker Nasheed D as he entered his vehicle near his residence in the capital, Male'. Nasheed was critically injured along with few others. Members of the ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has raised question over one of the suspects Ismail Fathih (23), who had transported a second suspect, Mujah Ahmed, from one point to another on the night of the attack, the PGO had said there was not enough incriminating evidence to charge him, and he was therefore released from custody.
