Police said that militants abducted Hilal Ahmad Parray from Hajin area of Bandipora District in the night of May 16 and killed him subsequently, reports Hindustan Times. He was later found dead in an apple nursery at a nearby locality on May 17. “In the intervening night of May 16 and 17, three to four Pakistan-based militants assisted by a local militant Saleem Parray affiliated with the outlawed militant organization LeT [Lashkar-e-Toiba] forcefully barged inside the house of Abdul Rashid Parray at Parrey Mohalla in Hajin and abducted his son Hilal Ahmad Parray,” an unnamed Police spokesman said. “As per the details provided by Abdul Rashid Parray, it was 11:30pm when militants appeared at their house and one of the militants believed to be Saleem whose face was covered and was speaking Kashmiri took their son Hilal along. Family members had made attempts to resist the abduction but the militants had beaten them ruthlessly and forcibly taken him away,” the spokesman added. The official said Hilal’s body was recovered from the nursery at Shakur Din Mohalla in the early hours of May 17. “The body of Hilal bore visible torture and strangulation marks. Police have launched an investigation in this case,” the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, three weapons went missing from a Police Post at Dalgate in Srinagar city (Srinagar District) in the evening of May 17, reports Daily Excelsior. Police said that three rifles have gone missing from the Police Post outside a hotel Hill Skirt at Buchwara, Dalgate. Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) has released photos of the three service weapons looted from the policemen from Srinagar, adds Zee News. According to reports, the terror outfit has released the photos on its Facebook account named ''Hamzah Hizbi''.
