A Special Police Officer (SPO) turned militant,Altaf Hussain, and his friend,Jehangir Ahmed Bhat, opened fire targeting Security Forces (SFs) at Chadoora in Budgamof Jammu and Kashmir on October 16, reports Daily Excelsior. Hussain managed to escape while Bhatwas arrested during the subsequent Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area by the SFs. One AK-47 rifle and a magazine was recovered from Jehangir, a stone-pelter and an Over Ground Worker (OGW). Hussain had fled from his camp in Nagam area in Budgam District on October 13 along with with his service rifle and its magazine. Times of India adds that later in the day Hussain was later arrested in Rajouri District. The magazine was retrieved but the weapon was yet to be traced.
Police arrested six Over Ground Worker (OGW) of during a raidin Barzullahin Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on October 16, reports Daily Excelsior. The arrestees were identified as Waseem Ahemd Ganai, Faisal Mushtaq Ganai, Shakir Ahmed Dar, Suhail Shabir Ganai, Umar Nisar, and Sahil Nisar. Six vehicles were also seized: Tavera, Pulsar bike, Yamaha bike, Alto while colour, Alto-800, and a Bike.
