An unknown number of militants managed to escape after a brief encounter with Security Forces (SFs) in Gundpora Rampora area of Bandipora District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on May 27, reports Greater Kashmir. "After initial brief encounter during cordon & search operation in Gundpora Rampora area of Bandipora, terrorists managed to escape from the spot. However, our team chasing them. Further details shall follow”, an unmade Police spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Police on May 27 arrested an associate of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant in Authoora Bala of Kreeri in Baramulla District, reports Kashmir Observer. An unnamed senior Police officer said that acting on specific input about the movement of militants in Kreeri area, one LeT militant associate was apprehended along with arms and ammunition. He was identified as Mohd Saleem Khan, son of Gh Hassan Khan resident of Shrakwara Kreeri. Upon his personal search one pistol, one Magazine and 5 rounds of pistol were recovered from his possession.
