One active cadre of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) identified as Vantala Raju alias Sagar (32) surrendered before the Superintendent of Police (SP) Nitesh Wadhwani in Malkangiri District of Odisha on April 11, reports ommcomnews.com. According to the Police, Raju joined the CPI-Maoist in 2016 and was working as a party member of Pedabayalu-Korukonda area committee of East-Visakha Division under the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC). Raju, a native of Nannubari village under Pedabayalu Police limits in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh, was carrying a cash reward of INR 100,000 announced by the Government of Odisha. SP, Wadhwani said that Raju laid down his arms due to the good work done in the cut-off area in the last one or two years by way of area domination exercises provision of roads, schools and other development activities by the State Government.
