A key member of the supply team of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) identified as Aaytu Sodhi alias Ramesh (25), surrendered in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on May 29, reports The Pioneer. According to Police, Ramesh, a member of the Maoist area committee supply team in Pamed/Usur region in the District, had joined the CPI-Maoist in 2011 as a ‘militia member’ and was active there till 2017. Ramesh told the Police that in 2019 he had supplied wireless sets, clothes, electrical items, and explosives worth INR 1 million to Maoists. In January this year, he supplied medicines, wireless sets, wire, clothes, and items of daily use worth INR 500,000 to the Maoists.
Meanwhile, an AK-47 rifle that was looted by the Maoists from security officer of Congress leader Mahendra Karma who was killed along with 27 others in the ambush in the in Jheeram valley of Darbha region of Sukma District on May 25, 2013, was recovered from the outskirts of Pardhoni village under Manpur Police Station limits in Rajnandgaon District of Chhattisgarh on May 8, reports The New Indian Express. The Police have also recovered an SLR (Self-Loading Rifle) rifle, which was stolen by the Maoists from Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who were attacked in the NMDC mining area in Dantewada District in 2006.
