Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for detonating a power pylon that cut the main power line to Kabul and left the Afghan capital in complete darkness, reports The Khamma Press on October 23. In a statement released on the Telegram channel, the outfit stated that the ‘soldiers of the caliphate detonated a bomb on an electricity pylon in Kabul, to damage the electricity sector’. Earlier, South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) reported that on October 21, power supply in Kabul and neighboring provinces were disrupted due to an explosion that blew up a power pylon in the Qala Murad Beg area of Kabul Province, cutting off a 220 kV imported power line.
