The Security Forces (SFs) have recovered five kilogram Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) during the search operation in the forests of Mankot in Tadoki area in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on October 4, reports news2news.in. It is believed that the Maoists had planted the IED in order to harm the SFs who were out on patrol. Later, the IED was defused safely by blasting on the spot.
Meanwhile, seven Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres surrendered to Security Forces (SFs) in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on September 29, reports The Pioneer. The seven Maoist identified as Madkam Masa, Mandvi Hirma, Madkam Bhima, Madkam Bandi, Madkam Nanda, Sodi Joga and Lachinder, laid down arms on September 29 after being impressed with the State Government’s rehabilitation policy, and they were involved in several incidents of Naxalite [Left Wing Extremist, LWE] activities, Superintendent of Police (SP), Sunil Sharma said, adding, the intelligence unit of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)’s 219th Battalion played a significant role in the surrender of these Maoists.
