A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) trooper, identified as M.L. Chouhan, was injured after the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres attacked him with stone in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on June 27, reports The Pioneer. The Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhishek Pallava, said, the incident took place when the CISF troopers, on a routine patrol in guarding the mine area of the National Mineral Development Corp (NMDC) in Kirandul and Bacheli areas in the District. When Assistant Sub Inspector M.L. Chouhan and Constable Vijay Kumar were close to Akash Nagar mining area, a group of Maoists, pretending to be civilians and armed with bows and arrows, suddenly came to the spot. "They asked Chouhan to surrender his walkie-talkie to them. When he refused, they hit him on his head with a stone and injured him," the SP said adding that the Maoists then snatched his walkie-talkie and the mobile phones of the two personnel before escaping from the spot.
