Public Security Minister Rear Admiral Dr. Sarath Weerasekara in Parliament on May 19 said that the Crime Investigation Department (CID) is working together with the US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) teams in conducting investigations on the Easter Sunday Terror Attacks, reports Daily News. Observing that the Easter attack in 2019 was one of the most devastating attacks in the world, he said it would take time to bring the perpetrators to justice as the prosecution process needs to be carried out in a meticulous manner. “The Police have arrested 704 suspects in connection with the Easter Sunday Terror Attacks and of them 203 are in remand custody and 84 are on detention orders. There are 244 on bail and 168 have been released, while 32 have been indicted,” Weerasekara said.
