According to Police, the final of a football tournament was taking place at a ground in Allahabad neighbourhood when the explosion occurred. The Police said an initial probe shows that a remote-controlled device was used to detonate the explosive that was hidden where spectators were seated.

At least five persons, including a Police official, were killed and 12 others sustained injuries when a bomb exploded in the parking lot of the Serena Hotel located on the Shahrah-e-Zarghun Road in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, in the night of April 21, reports Dawn. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Azhar Ikram said that the explosive device was apparently fitted in a vehicle, according to initial investigations. Addressing a press conference, Balochistan Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said that the Chinese ambassador being the apparent target of the attack. Langove said that the ambassador was not present at the hotel when the explosion occurred. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the blast, adds Samaa TV.

BLF claimed responsibility for the attack. Gohram Baloch, the ‘spokesperson’ of BLF, said that the BLF cadres attacked the said FC checkpoint at 7 p.m. The Security Forces sustained casualties and material damage in the attack, he added. The spokesperson cautioned the general public not to venture too close to the FC checkpoints, as the BLF cadres can attack them at any time.

According to the details, the vehicle of the Pakistani coast guards was standing in the ground of the higher secondary school in Pasni when unidentified assailants hurled a grenade its way. The attackers then fled the scene. BRA claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that such attacks will continue “until the independence of Balochistan.”

Three grenade attacks on national flag sellers took place in different parts of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, during the last 48 hours ending on August 10, killing one person and injuring five others, reports Dawn. Unidentified person hurled a grenade at a pushcart selling the national flags in the Sirki Road area which exploded at the roadside. However, no loss of human life was reported in the explosion which smashed windowpanes of shops and buildings. However, five people were injured in a similar grenade attack at a small shop where the national flags were hoisted in the Eastern Bypass area in the night. The motorcyclists escaped after lobbing grenades. One of the injured, identified as Amanullah (27), later succumbed to his injuries at hospital. Another person was injured in the third grenade attack in the Sariab Road area when motorcyclists targeted a pushcart selling the national flags.

District Police Officer (DPO) Tank, Sahibzada Sajjad said the Government Girls Middle School Kalu Parangi located on the outskirts of Tank, which was under construction, had been targeted in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack which left it partially damaged. “The school building was not the target itself as the contractor was receiving calls from neighboring Afghanistan and the callers were asking for ‘donations’ which he did not comply with and as a result the school was attacked,” he said. “Dynamite which is used for rock blasting and mining was used in the attack.” The targeting of a girls middle school has caused widespread panic among the locals of the area. Two Army soldiers were killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Dosalli area of North Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on September 7, reports Dawn. In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Security Forces (SFs) were conducting a clearance operation in Dosalli area when the IED exploded. As a result, 25-year-old Sepoy Zia Akram and 20-year-old Sepoy Musawwar Khan were killed. SFs immediately cordoned off the area to apprehend the militant who had planted the IED. During intense exchange of fire, one of the militants, who were trying to flee, was killed.
