Three Army soldiers and two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with militants in North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 14, reports Dawn. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the Security Forces (SFs) carried out two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) on terrorist hideouts in North Waziristan. Two terrorists "including an IED (improvised explosive device) expert" were killed in the raids. During an exchange of fire with the militants, three soldiers were killed. They were identified as Sepoy Azaib Ahmed, resident of Karak District; Sepoy Zia Ul Islam, resident of Bannu District; and Lance Naik Abbas Khan, resident of Orakzai District.

Three militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) near the Pak-Afghan border in Lower Dir District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 1, reports ARY News. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Security Forces conducted an IBO to thwart an infiltration attempt by militants close to the Pak-Afghan border. During an exchange of fire, three militants, identified as Abid, Yusuf Khan and Abdul Sattar, were killed. A cache of arms, ammunition, and hand grenades were recovered from their possession of the slain militants. These militants remained involved in several target killing incidents at Swat District in 2019.

A statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said, terrorist ‘commander’ Rehmat alias Khalid was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) expert and remained involved in different militant activities against SFs, extortion, abduction for ransom and target killing since 2009 in Malik Khel area.The statement added, "During the search operation, security forces recovered huge cache of weapons." The ISPR stated, Havaldar Shehzad Raza embraced martyrdom during the exchange of fire with the terrorists.

Eight suspected militants including three Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ‘commanders’ were killed in two Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) conducted by Security Forces (SFs) in the North Waziristan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on March 6, reports Dawn.According to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, separate IBOs were carried out on militant hideouts in Boya and Dosali areas of North Waziristan. Among the eight militants, the three militants‘commanders’ killed during the exchange of fire were Abdul Aneer alias Adil (TTP Toofan group), Junaid alias Jamid (TTP Tariq group) and Khaliq Shadeen alias Rehan (TTP Sadiq Noor group), the ISPR said.The identity of the rest five are yet to be ascertained. The press release added, "These terrorists remained involved in terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies and locals of the area since 2009 including IED (improvised explosive device) attacks, firing, target killing, kidnapping for ransom and extortion." According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during an intense exchange of fire, militant ‘commander’ Abdul Adam Zeb alias Dung, who belonged to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Bismillah group, and militant ‘commanders’ Molvi Mehboob alias Molvi and Mir Salam alias Anas, who were associated with the TTP Sajna group, were killed. Abdul Adam Zeb had been involved in more than 20 terrorist activities against SFs, law enforcement agencies and local population since 2014. He was involved in IED attacks, firing, attacks on government buildings, targeted killings, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and recruiting and organising terrorists in Mohammad Khel, Boya and Data Khel areas of North Waziristan and Zoida area of South Waziristan. Molvi Mehboob and Mir Salam were close associates of Baitullah Mehsud and TTP’s other militant commanders. According to the CTD, they received information from their secret sources about the presence of militants in a mountainous area of Jowar. “Following the information, the CTD police reached the area where the terrorists started firing on them. The outfit announced cessation of hostilities following a statement by Prime Minister Imran Khan on October 1 that his government had initiated a reconciliation process with different groups of the banned TTP to end violence.
