Media reports quoting Defense Ministry sources said that, on February 2, security forces (SFs) killed three Maoist insurgents during separate incidents including one each at Gularia- Balapur in the Bardiya district, Rajapur in the Antapur district, and another one in the Bajura district. A gun, a pistol and Rupees 77,000 in Nepalese currency were recovered from the slain Maoists. Also a Maoist insurgent was killed in Kapilakot Village Development Committee (VDC) in the Sindhuli district on January 31. Meanwhile, reports said that six Maoists insurgents surrendered before the SFs in unspecified places. Also, two students were injured when a bomb allegedly planted by Maoists exploded at Hangdeva VDC in the Taplejung district on January 31.
