Three Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, including a woman, surrendered before the Police in Swabhiman Anchal in Malkangiri District of Odisha on January 26, reports daijiworld.com. The surrendered Maoists are identified as Manoj alias Mati Madhi (24), Pandu Kabasi (27) and Aite Karttami (21), and each of them carrying a cash reward of INR 100,000 on their heads, were active members of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC) of the CPI-Maoist. The three surrendered Maoists are residents of Daldali village under the Mathili Police Station of Malkangiri District. "Maoist activities have been reduced substantially in Malkangiri district. Three cadre Maoists surrendered before us today," said Director of Intelligence Sanjeeb Panda.

A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Madakam Buman, surrendered before Superintendent of Police (SP), S Sathish Kumar, in Alluri Sitharamaraju District of Andhra Pradesh on March 16, reports The Hans India. Buman had joined the CPI-Maoist in 2015 and participated in party activities with the encouragement of Malagare Local Organisation Squad (LOS) ‘commander’ Doddi Aitha. As per Aitha's orders, Buman joined the supply team of Shyam Dada, ‘special zonal committee member (SZCM)’ and Darbha Divisional Committee in-charge, as a party member, and worked till January 2017. He was transferred to the Malagare Local Guerrilla Squad (LGS), where he worked as a party member until April 2018. From there, he was again transferred to Kate Kalyan LGS and worked till August 2019. He had 303 rifles during this period.

Singpho had been tasked to carry out extortion activities. The operative surrendered with an AK-47 rifle, one magazine and 19 rounds of live ammunition, besides other portable belongings. Singpho had joined the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG) militant outfit in 2017. The ENNG became defunct in 2022 after all its members surrendered before the government. However, seven members of the outfit continued to be involved in insurgent activities and formed the Easter Naga National Council (ENNC), which was later renamed as ENNO. The ENNO is reportedly active in a few parts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding Districts.

It’s counted among the worst Maoist attacks in the Bastar division. Madavi and Vadde, both residents of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh, surrendered in front of the Superintendent of Police (SP) just ahead of the Naxalites' 'martyrs’ week', which is marked between July 28 and August 3 to pay tribute to fallen ultras, a Police official said. Madavi was recruited as a member of Pamed Local Guerrilla Squad (LGS) in July 2014 and worked until 2021. He was transferred to the Zone Action Team in January 2021 and left the Dalam (armed squad) in June 2023 to return home. He was involved in eight encounters, five murders, and two arson cases. Vadde was recruited as a member of the ‘Jan militia’ (people’s army of the Maoists) with Jatpur Dalam in 2012 and worked there until 2023, after which he left the Dalam and returned home. He was involved in six murders and one arson case. In 2022, he was involved in the burning of 12 tractors and earth-moving equipment deployed for road work in Mauja Irapnar. On October 28, a total of 181 cadres of Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) laid down their arms in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Haflong in Dima Hasao District of Assam, and returned to the mainstream, reports India TodayNE. Along with the laying down of arms, distribution of one-time financial grant of fixed deposit of INR 4,000,00 was also given to each former cadre of DNLA during the ceremony, in order to help them return to the mainstream. In a statement, Sarma said that the surrender of DNLA militants was a “historic day” for Assam and for the country. They turned themselves in before senior Police officials, citing disappointment with “inhuman” and “hollow” Maoist ideology, Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran Chavan said. One of the surrendered Maoists, Uika Lakhma, operated as ‘militia deputy commander’, while the others were active as members of the militia and Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangthan (DAKMS), Krantikari Mahila Adivasi Sangthan (KAMS), and Chetna Natya Mandli (CNM), all frontal wings of Maoists, the SP said, adding that they were allegedly involved in executing Maoist activities, including putting up posters, spreading the banned outfit’s ideology, and doing recce, in Jagargunda Police Station area of the district.
