A Special Task Force (STF) constable was injured during a fierce encounter between the Security Force (SFs) and Communist party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres in the Dongerjog Forest area in Gariyaband District of Chhattisgarh on January 2, reports The Times of India. STF chief Vijay Pandey said that the security personnel were conducting a search operation when the rebels opened fire, leading to an encounter at Dongerjog Forest area. A constable Yuvaraj Sagar, who had sustained bullet injuries on his abdomen, airlifted to the State capital, Raipur, for treatment at a super specialty hospital, and his condition was reported to be stable.

Army on January 3 foiled an infiltration bid by a group of militants in Hamirpur area of Bhimber Gali Brigade in Rajouri District, reports Greater Kashmir. Official said that Army soldiers posted in the BG Brigade, the area also referred as 'forward Balakote sector' "noticed an infiltration attempt by a group of infiltrators. The infiltrators were challenged with an explosion triggered on the spot to foil this attempt". Soon after the incident, the entire area along the Line of Control (LoC) was cordoned by the Army and searches started to nab the infiltrators, official added.

Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, including a local top commander from Bandipora District, were killed in separate incidents in Shalimar and Gasu areas of Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on January 3, reports Greater Kashmir. Based on specific input generated by Police regarding presence of terrorist in Shalimar area, a search operation was launched by Srinagar Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). During the search operation, the search party was fired upon indiscriminately by hiding militants, which was effectively retaliated leading to a brief shootout and elimination of LeT local top commander Saleem Parray. As per Police, Parray was active since 2016 and was involved in several civilian killings including of Bashir Ahmad Dar and his brother Ghulam Hassan Dar at Shahgund Hajin in Bandipora on May 5, 2018, Hilal Ahmad Parray at Parray Mohalla Hajin on May 16, 2018, even as "he was also involved in throat slitting of many civilians in Hajin area.

One cadre of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was killed in an encounter took place between the Police and Maoists in the Pachrukhia Hill area under Madanpur Block in Aurangabad District of Bihar on January 5, reports prabhatkhabar.com. Aurangabad Superintendent of Police (SP), Kantesh Kumar Mishra said that on January 5 evening, the Commando Battalion for resolute Action (CoBRA) personnel were conducting a search operation, and during this, on seeing them, the Maoists started firing, to which the soldiers also took the front and started retaliation. However, Police personnel are safe in the incident. Meanwhile, the Maoists also triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast, as has been confirmed by the SP himself. The identity of the slain Maoist is yet to be ascertained.

Three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants including a local militant killed in an encounter with the Security Forces (SFs) in Chandgam village of Pulwama District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on January 5, reports Greater Kashmir. "Acting on specific input regarding presence of terrorists in village Chandgam area of Pulwama, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 55RR and 182Bn CRPF in the said area, " a Police spokesman said. "During the search operation, as the joint search party proceeded towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter, " he added. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 02 M-4 Carbine and 01 AK series rifle were recovered from the site of encounter. Among the killed militants, two have been identified as Mir Owais resident of Ashmander area of Pulwama District and a Pakistani national Talha Yasir. Regarding the third killed militant, although the recoveries made from the site of encounter indicate him to be a foreigner however his identification is being ascertained. As per Police, the slain trio was "part of group involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on security forces and civilian atrocities". "Several terror crime cases were registered against both the killed identified terrorists. Terrorist Owais was involved in killing of a civilian namely Azad Ahmad Dar of Kangan Pulwama. The killed Pakistani terrorist Talha was mastermind in preparation of Vehicle-borne IEDs besides, involved in attack on civilian at Wanpora area of Pulwama”, Police said.

Three Jash-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants including two foreigners were killed and an Army officer was injured in an encounter in Zolwa Chadoora area of Budgam District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in the morning of January 7, reports Daily Excelsior. Based on a specific input generated by Police regarding presence of militants in Zolwa Chadoora area, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Security Forces (SFs) in the evening of January 6. “During the search operation, as the presence of militants was ascertained they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party, which was retaliated, leading to an encounter. The SF evacuated the civilians trapped around the encounter site. “To avoid any collateral damage due to darkness, the operation was suspended during night hours”, an official said. However, in the wee hours, the operation resumed, resulting in the killing of three militants of JeM. An Army officer received minor splinter injury. One of the killed militants has been identified as Waseem Mir son of Ghulam Qadir Mir, resident of Nowgam Srinagar, who was active since December 2020. The official said that documents recovered revealed that the other two killed militants appeared to be foreigners. As per Police records, Waseem was a categorized militant and part of group involved in several cases including attacks on SFs and civilian atrocities. Several cases were registered against him.

A huge quantity of explosives, suspected to be left behind by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), was found in Malkangiri District of Odisha on January 14, reports India Today. During a combing operation in Swabhiman Anchal (erstwhile cut-off region) on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border, personnel of the Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) detected the dump of explosive materials in a forest near Maribeda and Nademanjari villages in Jodamba Police Station area, Superintendent of Police (SP), Nitesh Wadhwan said. Among the materials found were four tiffin bombs and 20 web belts, he said. Besides, 19 jungle caps and a large number of medicines were also found, he added. The slain Maoists were identified as Jagdish Koda and Birendra Koda, who were evading arrest in connection with Maoist related incidents. Police on February 3 arrested a The Resistance Front (TRF) terrorist from Hajin area of Bandipora District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Greater Kashmir. An unnamed Police spokesman said that Shabir Ahmad Dar a resident of Chandergeer Hajin was arrested by Bandipora Police at a check point at Chanderger. The check point was established following inputs about "suspicious movement of TRF terrorists in Chandergeer Hajin". "While searching pedestrians and vehicles, one suspected person tried to conceal his presence on seeing the naka party, who was tactfully apprehended and on his personal search, one Chinese grenade was recovered and on his further disclosure one Chinese Pistol, one Pistol Magzine, four Pistol Rounds and two more Chinese hand Grenades were recovered, " Police spokesman added. As per Police, the terrorist was "working on the directions of handlers across the border, Lala Umar and Huzaifa and was in touch with slain militant Abbas Sheikh and active militant Basit. Dar, Police said, was assigned the task of reviving local militancy in Bandipora District, particularly in Hajin after there was no local active militant left in Hajin area after the killing of LeT militant Saleem Parray. Police further said that Dar was working for Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit on the directions of LeT terrorist namely Bashir Puji, who is currently in jail and Muzaffar Nata, killed by the Security Forces.

It was revealed in the initial investigation that a person from a neighbouring state was the supplier of the seized contraband. His modus operandi was to supply the drug in a secret chamber created in a new pair of shoes. The two arrested persons along with their third partner were operating from a rented apartment in Vasai. During the combing operation, an IED kept hidden in the forest exploded as soon as the soldiers kept their feet, in which both the CoBRA troopers identified as Dilip Kumar (29) and Narayan Das (38) were injured. Later on, the Maoists fled after seeing the Security Forces (SFs) overwhelmed. The officials said the 10 people, who were working independently or as ‘sleeper cells’ of the banned terror group, were identified during a probe carried out by the SIA. Neither of them was aware about each other’s activities and were taking instructions from JeM terrorist commanders directly. “The module, whose members were organised into sub-modules in the form of verticals so that in the event of detection of one member, the bigger network does not get compromised, had been painstakingly discovered through discreet surveillance, in which corroborative intelligence capable of being converted into admissible evidence in court was used to ascertain and confirm the JeM membership of these individuals,” one of the officials said. Those arrested were active in recruiting young people, arranging finances, and transporting weapons in south and central Kashmir, besides providing other logistic support. During searches, cell phones, SIM cards, records to show use of banking channels and even a dummy pistol were seized. Among those arrested is a person at whose house four terrorists were killed on April 4, 2020, the officials added.

Based on a tip-off about the presence of senior Maoist cadres, an operation was launched and the security personnel were dispatched to the area, Superintendent of Police (SP), Shalabh Sinha said, adding, as the Police team reached Kosronda, ultras opened fire, prompting the personnel to launch a retaliatory action. During a search at the encounter site on February 18 morning, drag marks of bodies were found at the scene, indicating a possibility of damage suffered by Maoists. It is being told that there was heavy firing from both the sides. More than 500 rounds of bullets have been fired in the 40-minute encounter. In this, many Maoists have been claimed to have been killed and injured, however, neither the body of any Maoist nor any weapon was recovered from the spot, though, during the search, marks of being dragged away have definitely been found. Some daily consumable items were also recovered from the encounter spot.

Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants and a civilian were killed during an encounter in Amshipora village in Shopian District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on February 25, reports Daily Excelsior. Based on a specific input of Police about the presence of militants in village Amshipora, Shopian, a joint operation was launched in the intervening night of February 24 and 25, and after a cluster of houses were taken into cordon, following the drill civilians were evacuated to safety. Thereafter, house to house searches were started in the wee hours to locate the hiding militants. During the searches, the militants came out and resorted to indiscriminate firing, in which one civilian namely Shakeel Ahmed Khan son of Abdul Rahim Khan resident of Amshipora got seriously injured and later succumbed to the injuries. However, the fire by the militants was retaliated effectively in which both militants were killed, who have been identified as Muzamil Ahmad Mir, resident of Chatripora, Shopian, and Shariq Ayoob, resident of Bonpora, Amshipora, Shopian. As per Police records, Muzamil was involved in several militant crimes. “Both the slain militants belonged to LeT outfit, incriminating materials including arms (one AK 56 rifle and one pistol) and ammunition were also recovered”, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir zone, Vijay Kumar said.

A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Ramdular Yadav, allegedly active in extorting contractors and businessmen and involved in expanding the Maoist-base, was arrested by a joint team of Police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) from the hilly forest areas of Kaimur plateau in Rohtas District of Bihar on March 4, reports Hindustan Times. Yadav, a resident of Banda village under Nauhatta Police Station had been active for a decade and was raising funds and recruiting cadres to strengthen the extremist organisation on the plateau, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ashish Bharti said. On a tip off that Yadav was to come to the market, the Police and SSB cordoned off the area and launched a search. The Maoist was arrested when he was trying to escape after seeing the forces. Yadav confessed his involvement in cases of extortion and other activities for which 2 cases were already registered against him with Tilothu Police Station under sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Unlawful activities prevention Act (UAPA).

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar, said in Srinagar that this evening during a naka (Police check post) checking at Bemina Chowk, one Over Ground Worker (OGW) Zubair Sheikh of Elahi Bagh Soura was intercepted by Police party and on his search one hand grenade was recovered from his possession. IGP, Kumar said that the accused was arrested on the spot and a case (FIR no 15/2022 under Sections 7/25 of Indian Arms Act and section 13 of UAPA) was registered at Bemina Police Station and investigation was taken up. The accused was put to sustained examination and during questioning he revealed that he had received this grenade from another OGW Shamim Ahmed Chilloo son of Abdul Kareem Chilloo of Tankipora Shaheed Gunj. This accused confessed that he had received a consignment of four hand grenades and handed over one grenade each to Amir Rehman Dar of Tengpura Bypass, Shahid Ahmed Mir of Dangerpora Nowgam and one to Zubair Sheikh. Acting on a tip off that a Maoist action team was trying to damage earth movers and tractors engaged in trenching work at Kistarampadu and Battinipalli villages in the Mandal, a search operation was launched. The Maoists, who spotted the Police team, opened fire on them and fled towards Battinipalli. As the Police took up a search operation in the area the Maoists once again fired on the police at Battinipalli and fled. SIA teams carried out the searches at three places in Delhi, one in Faridabad in Haryana and two in Anantnag of south Kashmir, the SIA officials said. The teams were assisted by the Delhi Police and other security agencies. Those raided included some lawyers who allegedly received funds from a Pakistan-based conduit of the LeT terror group to sustain terrorist and secessionist networks in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country. A Police official said that based on a specific information regarding movement of three suspected individuals from Wadoora Bala to Sonarwain bridge, who were likely to carryout attack on SFs, a joint Naka was established at Sonarwain bridge near Wadoora Bala village. He said that during the checking at the naka, it was observed that three persons were moving towards naka in suspicious conditions. The naka party challenged them, however, they tried to flee from the spot, taking cover of darkness but, were nabbed by the SFs. “Upon their search, three pistols, three magazines, 22 rounds of pistols, one grenade and Rs 79,800 cash were recovered from their possession”, he added. The arrested militants were identified as Tufail Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Majeed Mir of Gund Mohalla, Barat Kalan; Owais Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Hassan Mir of Mir Mohalla, Barat Kalan and Shabir Ahmad Wagay son of Nazir Ahmad Wagay of Masjid Mohalla, Pethbug. Police arrested a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) Dalam (armed squad) member in the forests of Chintaguppa in Cherla Mandal (administrative sub division) in Bhadradri Kothagudem District of Telangana on April 18, reports Telangana Today. Bhadrachalam in-charge Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), B Rohith Raj informed that the local Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 141 Battalion personnel during combing operations spotted four persons moving suspiciously in the forests. One of them was arrested by the Police and during interrogation he revealed his identity as the Cherla Local Operation Squad (LOS) member, Bonala Raju alias Gagan of Peddamasanpalli village in Siddipet District, while others escaped. After being a sympathiser for the Maoists for some time he joined the underground cadres in 2021. Gagan served as the guard to the Maoist Bhadradri Kothagudem East Godavari (BKEG) Committee ‘secretary’ Koyyada Sambaiah alias Azad and was later shifted to Cherla LOS. A case was booked against him in an extortion case in Siddipet three-town Police Station. He also took part in a recent exchange of fire with Police in the Battinapalli-Kistarampadu forests on Telangana-Chhattisgarh borders. Earlier on April 21 morning it was reported that LeT ‘Commander’ Yousuf Kantroo was killed while others militants were under trap. Yousuf Kantroo was on the list of top 10 most wanted terrorists. Acting on a specific input, a special team of Budgam Police along with the Army launched a joint cordon and search operation in Malwah area. During the search operation as the joint search party reached the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon them in which four soldiers including one officer received minor injuries. The fire was effectively retaliated leading to an encounter. Later on, Baramulla Police headed by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla District also joined in the operation. One Policeman from the Baramulla District also got injured in the encounter. According to J&K Police, terrorist Yousuf Kantroo earlier joined as an over ground worker of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit and was arrested in the year 2005. Later on, he was released in the year 2008 but he again joined terrorist rank in the year 2017 and started killing innocent civilians, Policemen and political workers. Later on he switched from HM to LeT. However, the identification of the other killed terrorist is yet to be ascertain.

During search, 800 grams of heroin like substance was recovered from the said vehicle. Maoist activities are still going on in some parts of Boipariguda and Machhkund under Lamtaput Block (administrative division) in Koraput District, said Superintendent of Police (SP), Varun Guntupalli said, on recovery of old explosives in a forest. Guntupalli stated that Police received inputs late May 10 night about explosives hidden in forest between Panching and Balpai villages. A team of DVF and an anti-bomb squad jointly carried out a search operation in the area. The Maoists had buried the explosives in the forest many years ago. The Police recovered a CP Riot gun, 38-mm rubber bullet, six packets of liquid explosives (OPR gel) and a pair of cutting pliers. The Riot gun recovered here was one of the arms looted from Koraput armoury in 2004. It may be noted here that Maoists had mounted an attack on the armory February 6, 2004. According to information, at about 9 pm [IST] on May 15, a few Maoists reached Chennapuram base camp where CRPF personnel were stationed and opened two rounds of fire, however, the CRPF personnel, who became alert, returned fire to defend themselves. After the exchange of fire for a few minutes, the Maoists’ escaped. The Police forces immediately launched a search operation to arrest Maoists. It is learnt that the ultras also attacked Thoggudem Police base camp under Pamedu Police Station limits in Khammam District, before attacking on Chennapuram base camp. “The Maoists are opposing the setting up of police base camps in Telangana and Chhattisgarh borders for quite some time now. On June 6, a National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM) militant was arrested for involvement in a series of IED blasts, including the June 5 IED attack at Little Flower School from Kangla Sangomshang area in Imphal East District of Manipur, reports Imphal Free Press. The arrested militant identified as Thounaojam Rishi Luwangcha was apprehended along with a jar marked as ‘Mahaan Instant Dairy Creamer’ during a cordon and search operation. One detonator fitted on a Cordtex wire of approximately 1 feet in length, 58 Plastic Explosive Kirkee (PEK) sticks weighing around 7.358 kg, 3 coils of Cordtex wire with approximately 51 feet in length, 397 detonators in boxes and 2 batteries were found inside the jar. Upon further search of his house, some mechanical tools used in assembling the explosive substances including one soldering iron rod; one bolt cutter (wire plier); one ratchet wire stripper; one cutter blade; 18 small iron rods and one electric insulating tape were recovered. One Huyndai i20 car black in colour bearing registration number MN05A-5899 and some particular clothes used in commission of the recent bomb blast were also recovered. The NRFM militant during interrogation revealed that he had started working for the militant outfit in September 2021 under the command of a self-styled ‘chairman’ Dhaballo who is presently staying in Bangladesh. Rishi further disclosed that he was behind the series of bomb blasts in Imphal - one shop at Nagamapal on May 5; at one house located at Khurai Thoidingjam Leikai on May 6 and the recent blast at Little flower school gate on June 5. The explosive substances were handed over to him by his commander through one unknown person in the month of January, 2022 and was paid INR 30,000 for each bomb blast.

Following the inputs about militants’ presence in Drabgam village, house to house searches was launched, and during the search operation, exchange of fire ensured as militants started firing at Security Forces (SF). Giving details about the encounter, a Police spokesman said SFs launched an anti-militancy operation in the Mishipora area, following information of ultras in the area. The case relates to the terrorist activities of the JeM in South Kashmir, during which two terrorists, including a Pakistani national, were killed by security forces in a gun battle at Chewa Kalan in Pulwama District on March 11, a spokesperson of the NIA said. The terrorists were identified as Aquib Mushtaq Bhat of Pulwama and Kamal Bhai of Pakistan, he said. The case, registered in Pulwama, was taken over by the NIA on April 8. During the searches, a large quantity of incriminating material was seized, the NIA said. Acting on information about presence of a few Maoist cadres on the hills of Kharadi village, about 70 kilometres from District Headquarters Balaghat, a team of 50 personnel of Hawk Force, (special anti-Naxal Force of MP Police) launched the combing operation, in which the Maoists were killed. The slain Maoist trio collectively carried a reward of over INR 5.7 million on their heads. Nagesh, who carried a bounty of INR 2.9 million on him, was the ‘commander’ of Tanda area committee of Mafalling under Gondia-Rajnandgaon-Balaghat (GRB) area of Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh (MMC) corridor. Manoj and Rama, both members of the area committee, carried a bounty of INR 1.4 million each on them. The encounter comes months after Maharashtra Police killed 26 Maoist cadres in MMC zone, where Police say Maoists are trying to expand their base. Police said, there are at least 13 cases registered against Nagesh in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, while, Rama, a resident of Sukma in Chhattisgarh, had 12 cases against her, and Manoj had three cases against him. Police claim to have seized three rifles, as many wireless sets, two combat pouches, GPS trackers and detonators among other explosives from near the bodies.

Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed in a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) attack in Patadhara Reserve Forest in Bheden Block (administrative division) in Nuapada District of Odisha on June 21, reports oneindia.com. The incident happened when the CRPF personnel were going from one camp to another, and it is suspected that the Maoists had prior information regarding the movement of the forces, a Police officer said. All of a sudden, they opened fire on the forces, he said. The dead include Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shishu Pal Singh, ASI Shiv Lal, and Constable Dharmendra Kumar Singh the CRPF, officials said. The NIA carried out searches at three places in Ranga Reddy and Medak and Secunderabad districts in connection with the Pedabayalu CPI-Maoist recruitment case and arrested the trio including a woman High Court Advocate, identified as Chukka Shilpa. The two other accused have been identified as Dongari Devendra and Dubasi Swapna. The NIA also seized incriminating materials including digital devices. The case pertains to the conspiracy and recruitment of a college student into the fold of the outfit by the leaders, members of Chaitanya Mahila Sangham (CMS), a frontal organisation of CPI-Maoist, NIA said in a release. The case was initially registered at Pedabayalu Police Station of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh in January this year. The NIA had re-registered the case on June 3 and taken over the investigation. A spokesman said that NIA conducted searches at 14 locations in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in the Districts of Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Anantnag, Budgam and Kathua in a case under number RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU. Police on June 28 claimed of solving the case with the arrest of two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists while the search is on for the main accused in the recent series of explosions in Rajouri District, reports Daily Excelsior. A cache of explosive material, including five improvised explosive devices (IEDs), was recovered at the disclosure of the arrested accused, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu, Mukesh Singh said. Twin explosions rocked Kotrana town of Rajouri on March 26 and another on April 19, leaving two persons injured. Two more persons were injured in another blast that took place in Shahpur-Budhal area of Rajouri on April 24. Working on leads, joint teams of Rajouri Police and 6th Rashtriya Rifles conducted multiple raids and search operations at various locations in Larkoti, Targain, Jaglanoo and Draaj areas of Rajouri and apprehended two suspects, Mohd Shabir and Mohd Sadiq of Draaj-Budhal village, the ADGP said. During investigation, he said, it came to the fore that three accused Talib Shah, also of Draaj village of Budhal area, Shabir and Sadiq were involved in these incidents of blasts, he said. These individuals, working on the directions of their Pakistan-based handlers, received weapons, ammunition, explosives and later used these IEDs to trigger blasts, Singh added.

Security Forces (SFs) launched a massive search operation in several forward areas along the International Border (IB) in Kathua District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on September 30, following information about a suspected drone activity, reports Daily Excelsior. However, nothing objectionable was found during the joint operation by Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) on September 30, the SFs said. The operation was launched after villagers near Talli hamlet in Marheen Tehsil (revenue unit) under Hiranagar sub-division informed that they spotted a drone flying along the IB late September 29 night, the officials said.

Maoists use a variety of weapons and explosives to carry out subversive and violent activities in Gadchiroli, a Police release said, adding, the Police on October 11 received an intelligence input that Maoists had buried explosives and other items in a huge quantity in Laddudera forest area with an intention to cause damage to the Security Forces (SFs). During the search, they found two live pressure cooker bombs, two claymore mines, a pistol, two wire bundles and an aluminium utensil, the Police said, adding that the bombs and claymore mines were destroyed on the spot with help of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS).

Addressing a presser at the Superintendent of Police (SP) office in Kandhamal, Inspector General (IG), operation, Amitabh Thakur said the identity of the slain Maoist has not been established yet who was neutralised in the Sindhi Forest area on October 11. Security Forces (SFs) recovered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED), suspected to have been planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), near Tekapar village under Koyalibeda Police Station limits in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on October 20, reports The Print. The explosive packed in an iron pipe, weighing 10 kilograms, also called a pipe bomb, was seized near Tekapar village under Koyalibeda Police Station limits when a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on a search operation, said Amarnath Sidar, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Antagarh. While cordoning off a forested hill, the patrolling team detected the bomb hidden under bushes along a dirt track to target SFs, he said, adding that a major tragedy was averted with the recovery. The explosive was later neutralised by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), he added.

During search one locally trained terrorist of LeT was apprehended. The arrested terrorist disclosed his identity as Shahid Hussain Bhat S/o GH Hassan Bhat R/o Plan Bandipora”, Police said in a statement. "On his disclosure 02 Hand Grenades were recovered which he had kept in paddy fields near Ward No.04 Plan Bandipora. Following an encounter Security Forces (SFs) busted a Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) camp and seized arms and ammunition in a forest in Nuapada District of Odisha on October 25, reports odishabytes.com. Rayagada Superintendent of Police (SP), Pratyush Diwakar said, following intelligence reports, a joint team comprising the personnel of Special Operation Group (SOG), District Voluntary Force (DVF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) carried out an operation in Patadhara Reserve Forest under Boden Police limits on 23. “During the operation, the Maoists opened fire and the security forces retaliated. Following the exchange of fire, the Maoists escaped into deep forest. Later in the day, while the security forces were carrying out combing operation, the Maoists again opened fire and an exchange of fire ensued for around 5 minutes. This time also the Left wing extremists managed to escape,” the SP said, adding, “According to our intelligence, a Maoist team led by Murali and Jayaram is moving in the reserve forest are on the border with Chhattisgarh. We have intensified the combing operation to nab them.” Following the second encounter, the SFs recovered some arms and ammunition and camp materials from the site. Those included one improvised explosive device (IED), 3 detonators, Maoist uniforms, medicines and other materials.

Security Forces (SFs) seized eight Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) from a forest in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on November 1, reports NDTV. Superintendent of Police (SP), Ashutosh Shekhar directed SFs to launch a search operation in the forest foothill in Rengdra after receiving information that Maoists have planted IEDs in the area to target SF personnel engaged in anti-Maoist operation. In course of search operation, the SF personnel recovered the eight IEDs planted in the Rengdra forest foothill, about 140 kilometers from Ranchi. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused the IEDs, each weighing 1.5 kilograms to 2 kilograms, SP, Shekhar added.
