Two foreign militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter with Security Forces at Bishembar Nagar area of Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on April 10, reports Daily Excelsior. They were involved in the recent attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Maisuma area of Srinagar. Speaking to reporters, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar described the killings as a major success for the SFs in Srinagar. He said that Police while acting on a lead sealed the suspected house in Bishembar Nagar area of Srinagar early this morning. “After closing in on the house where two militants were hiding, they lobbed a grenade and fired at the security forces in which two policemen and a CRPF personnel were injured,” the IGP said. He said that in the ensuing encounter, two hardcore LeT militants were killed. Both the killed militants were Pakistani and identified as Mohammad Bhai alias Abu Qasim, alias Mir Shoaib alias Mudassir and Abu Arsalan alias Khalid alias Aadil. As per police records, both of them were ‘A’ categorized and linked with LeT. Mohammad Bhai was active since 2019 while as Abu Arsalan was active since year 2021 in Central Kashmir. They were involved in pistol-borne attacks and grenade throwing incidents at various places. They were also involved in an attack on CRPF personnel in Maisuma in which one CRPF was killed and another injured.

A woman's leg was blown off after being hit by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bomb that was laid by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in the forest area near Kadapani village under Tarwadih Panchayat (village level local-self-Government institution) in Latehar District of Jharkhand on April 12, reports prabhatkhabar.com. The injured woman identified as Lalita Devi (27), wife of Raju Kherwar, resident of Nareshgarh village, had gone to collect Mahua (Madhuca longifolia), when she stepped on the pressure bomb laid by the Maoists to target the Security Forces (SFs) and was blown off. Superintendent of Police (SP), Anjani Anjan said that IED bomb has been planted by Ravindra Ganjhu's squad to damage the Police in this area, and on Tuesday (April 12), while choosing Mahua, the woman's foot fell on a bomb and exploded.

Maoists planted Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and blew up a bridge near Kotacheru located on the Injaram-Bhejji road in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on April 14, reports naidunia.com. The Maoists tried to blow up the bridge but the bridge has been damaged on one side. Two terrorists, believed to be Fedayeen (suicide) attackers, and one Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) were killed by Security Forces (SFs) in a gunfight near an Army camp in Sunjwan, on the outskirts of Jammu town, in the morning of April 22 (today), reports Daily Excelsior. Nine SF personnel were also injured in the operation. The encounter in Sunjwan took place amid heightened security arrangements in J&K, two days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Samba District on National Panchayati Raj Day on April 24. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials said a bus carrying 15 personnel for their morning shift came under attack at 4.25 am near the Chaddha camp in Sunjwan area. A senior CISF official said the terrorists fired at the bus and lobbed grenades, killing ASI S P Patil and injuring two other occupants of the bus. The force retaliated effectively, the officer added. After the attack on the CISF bus, the terrorists took shelter in the house of Mohammed Anwar in the area and were eliminated.

On the basis of reliable information about presence of a Maoist camp, a team of District Voluntary Force (DVF), Koraput along with personnel of 151 Battalion, Border Security Forces (BSF), Ramagiri Company Operating Base (COB), launched the combing operation in forest areas of Ambagandili, Maliguda and Garampani villages under Boipariguda Police limits, and during the operation, the SFs came across a Maoist explosive dump in the forest area of Garampani on August 1. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of top CPI-Maoist leader Misir Besra, who carries a bounty of INR 10 million on his head, and Patiram Manjhi alias Anal da along with their squad members in the forest areas, the operation was launched, West Singhbhum, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ashutosh Shekhar said, adding that Prabhakar Sahni, the injured inspector, was airlifted and admitted to a hospital in Ranchi. However, no injury or casualty was reported in the incident, officials said, adding that the incident was reported in Orchha Police Station limits about 65 kilometers away from district headquarters when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) were out for area domination towards Gudari village when the IED blast occurred. Soon after the explosion, Maoists, who were hiding in the area started firing at the team. In response to the same, the SFs responded to the firing, forcing Maoists to flee. The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) had been planted near a poster by the Maoist outfit’s ‘Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division’. The deceased journalist identified as Rohit Kumar Biswal (43), a resident of Madanpur Town in Madanpur Rampur Block (administrative unit) in Kalahandi District, was working as a reporter for a Odia daily local newspaper ‘Dharitri’, and Biswal reportedly got inputs from some reliable sources that Maoists had allegedly pasted posters near Karlakhunta Bridge in Mohangiri area under Madanpur Rampur Police Station limits. In the posters, the Maoists had appealed to the villagers to boycott the Panchayat (village level local-self-Government institution) elections in the area. According to official sources, the slain militant identified as Gyan Asom was part of the six cadres team led by commander, Rupom Asom who allegedly had taken shelter at Dapather Majgaon under Kakopathar Police Station (PS). Based on this information, when Security Forces (SF) approached the house, militants started firing and hurled two grenades. In retaliation, two militants were injured. However, only the body of Gyan Asom was recovered, while another militant identified as Rinku Asom is missing. Two bags containing grenades was recovered from the encounter spot. According to Assam Rifles (AR), the grenade may have fallen from the hands of the militants while they were passing by the village which is the transit route. Recently on March 6, a group of 12-15 militants of National Socialist Council of Nagaland - Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) had sneaked into the area from Nagaland following which an operation was launched by troops of the 6 AR and Tirap Police to flush out the group. An exchange of fire took place. The grenade is suspected to have dropped by these militants while fleeing.

The blast took place in an automobile workshop where a pickup truck carrying detonators was under repair. Lalhmangaihzuala, the owner of the workshop, Lalmawikima, his helper and Lalthafamkima, the owner of the pickup truck was killed in blast. Though initially the explosion was believed to be a cylinder blast, however, on-site investigations led to recovery of 900 pieces of detonators and another electronic detonator behind the driver’s seat. According to investigations, the remnants of the detonator PENT (pentaerythritol tetranitrate) found in the blast is suspected to have Myanmar linkages. Several detonators not yet exploded in commercial quantity along with some Burma currency, a small quantity of Myanmar currency was recovered from the site.

The Mohali police said in a statement, “A minor explosion was reported at the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in sector 77, SAS Nagar at around 7.45 PM. No damage has been reported. Senior officers are on the spot and an investigation is being done. Forensic teams have been called.” The explosion came close on the heels of the recovery of an explosive device near Burail Jail in Chandigarh on April 24. A senior official associated with a Central intelligence agency said that it is suspected that a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) was used in the attack and it is an unusual thing. "In the past grenade attacks have happened but the use of RPGs is worrying for everyone," said a senior official. "Some suspects taken into custody," Punjab Police, Director General of Police (DGP), Viresh Kumar Bhawra said at meeting headed by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Following the incident, under the UAPA, five persons have been subjected to Section 120B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The arrested were identified as Muhammad Talka, Muhammed Azharuddin, Muhammed Riyaz, Firoze Ismail and Muhammed Nawaz Ismail, all in their 20s,The Telegraph reports on October 26.Times Now reports on October 26, that another person, identified as Afsar Khan who is supposedly deceased Mubin's cousin was also arrested. A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was injured when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres exploded near Markanar village on the Koyalibeda-Panidobir Road under Koyalibeda Police Station limits in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on October 7, reports The Pioneer. Superintendent of Police (SP), Shalabh Sinha confirmed the incident and said that there was no major damage due to the IED blast that took place on the Koyalibeda-Panidobir Road when BSF personnel were evacuating a colleague for treatment from the Panidobir camp. The blast took place before the visit of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to take part in various programs in Kanker. The Security Forces (SFs) increased search operation in the interior areas of the district and subsequently recovered two live IEDs from the area, which was safely defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of Regional Headquarters Kanker.
