Twenty armed cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) accompanied by 50 militia members triggered blasts at two coffee pulping units and a godown of the Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation’s (APFDC) coffee pulping yard at Chapagedda in GK Veedhi mandal in Visakhapatnam District late on January 28, reports The Hindu. Coffee berries spread over the drying yards and a tractor were set on fire. The machinery and buildings were allegedly targeted using mines. APFDC estimated the loss of around INR 3 million. A letter addressed to the Regional Manager and Divisional Manager of APFDC and left behind by the east division committee of the CPI-Maoist said that the attack was in protest against the killing of party members in encounters, which it said were fake; against Operation Green Hunt and to demand the government to stop establishing new police stations and police outposts in Visakha Agency. They were meant to suppress the Girijans who were fighting for their rights over coffee plantations and against the proposed mining of bauxite. The party demanded APFDC to leave Visakha Agency. It also gave call for a bandh (shut down strike) in the east division on January 30 (today) with the above demands. The attack was reportedly led by Azad and Kavita, leaders of the Galikonda area committee of the Maoist party, and Ravi, said to be the official spokesman of the Andhra Orissa Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of the party.

Five people, including a Policeman, were injured in a low intensity bomb blast near Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati temple in Pune (Maharashtra) on July 10, reports The Times of India. The bomb was placed on a motorcycle in the parking area of Faraskhana and Vishrambaug Police Stations located 200m from the temple. Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil, who visited the blast site, said the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) would investigate the blast. "It is a challenge for the police as the blast happened on their premises.'' Police suspect Indian Mujahideen (IM) involvement in the blast due to its similarities with explosions in Pune earlier. They have found traces of ammonium nitrate and seized nails and ball bearings from the blast site. The same material was used in the other two blasts along with Research Department Explosive (RDX) in the German Bakery blast in February 2010.Police Commissioner Satish Mathur said they were yet to ascertain involvement of any terror group and were trying to trace the bomb planter. He stated, "Some groups involved in disturbing peace in the city could also be behind the blast. We have intensified security." The Hindu adds that Police officers privy to the investigation pointed to the similarity between the present blast and the one on Jangli Maharaj road in Pune of August 2012.

At least four passengers were killed and eight injured as twelve coaches of New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express derailed near Golden Ganj station in Chapra in East Champaran District on June 25, reports Zee News. Railway suspected "sabotage" by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) behind the derailment as there was a blast on the track. "Prima facie, it appears to be a case of sabotage. There was a blast on the track, which could have caused the derailment," Railway Board Chairman Arunendra Kumar told PTI. "Another goods train, 60 kms away from the station, also got derailed due to a blast. 18 wagons got derailed in the accident," Kumar said. The Maoists have given bandh (general shut down) call to protest security forces' "strong armed" action against "innocent people" in the area on suspicion of being Maoists’ sympathiser. Meanwhile, a live bomb fitted with a timer device has been found near tracks, which has given credence to reports of Maoists having a role in the incident.

On November 10, an minor explosion took place outside the Central Reserve Terrorist Force (CRPF) camp in West Bengal's Salt Lake area where National Investigation Agency (NIA) has set up a makeshift office for the Bardhaman blast probe, reports The Times of India. NIA officers were questioning three major Bangladeshi terror suspects Sajid, Hamid and Zia-ul-Haque when the blast was heard around 7.30pm, said sources. The blast site is close to Technopolis and the tech hub of Sector V of Salt Lake. CCTV footage from near Technopolis and a bus stand right outside the CRPF camp show a red car parked in the vicinity for quite some time. A large Police force has cordoned off the area and bomb disposal experts are on the ground. Samples collected from the spot point to a crude bomb but without splinters, say sources. Traffic has been restricted on the road. Police suspect the bomb was thrown from a bus and hit the boundary wall of the CRPF camp. "There has been an explosion but it doesn't seem serious. The explosion took place in a corner of the bus stand right in front of the CPRF camp. The police commissioner and detective chief have examined the spot very carefully but there was neither any smell nor any residue of explosives," said a police officer. "We have strengthened security around the CRPF camp," Bidhannagar Police Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar said. Kolkata was on high alert last week after intelligence inputs of a possible terror strike on Kolkata port between November 4 and 7, 2014.

Four pairs of shoes and dresses recovered from under a culvert near the site of gun battle indicated that number of the militants was four. According to the report, a group of four militants reportedly infiltrated into the Indian Territory from the International Border somewhere in Arnia sector at around 8.40am and opened indiscriminate firing on the civilians, who were on way to their routine works killing three of them on spot and injuring another, who died later. The militants then shifted towards the Army bunkers of 157 Territorial Army, which was stationed there as second line protection after the Border Security Force (BSF) and opened firing on their two bunkers, killing two soldiers on the spot and injuring another. They took over one of the Army bunkers and started firing from there on the Army personnel and civilians. Troops retaliated but the militants had hidden themselves inside the bunker. Another Army trooper, a Para Commando, was killed during fighting with the militants in the afternoon. Though identity of the slain militants hasn’t been established, sources said all four infiltrators were believed to be members of suicide squad of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
