A Grama Rakhi (village guard) was shot dead by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, suspecting him to be a ‘Police informer’, at Tikarpada village in Muniguda block (administrative sub-division) under Ambadala Police Station limits in Rayagada District of Odisha on August 31 night, reports The New India Express. An armed group of 10-12 Maoists arrived at the village late night and dragged Grama Rakhi Santosh Dandasena (40) out from his house. Other family members were warned not to follow while Santosh was taken around 50 metres from his house and shot dead. The rebels had reportedly warned five villagers including Santosh with dire consequences on the charge of being ‘Police informers’. After the Maoists left, family members reached the spot where Santosh’s body was lying and recovered hand-written notes of the Maoists. In the notes, the 'Bansadhara-Ghumusar-Nagabali (BGN) divisional committee’ of the banned CPI-Maoist claimed responsibility of the killing. The Maoists alleged that Santosh had engaged some youths in the area to inform Police about their movement in exchange of money. The rebels also warned the four other villagers to refrain from being ‘Police informants’ and tender apology in public failing which they will meet the same fate as Santosh. '(Dandasena) was cautioned several times not to give the police any information, but they disobeyed the order and persuaded several local youngsters to become police informers.' 'These kids will suffer similar consequences if they do not apologize,' the note threatened, adds newstracklive.com.

Four persons of a family, including two women, were hung to death by cadres of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), who also blew up their houses in Manubar village under Dumaria Police Station limits in Gaya District of Bihar late on November 13, reports english.jagran.com. According to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, the incident took place in Dumaria Police Station limits, close to the Jharkhand border area, where members of the CPI-Maoist attacked the house of Saryu Singh Bhokta late November 13 night. Bhokta’s two sons, Mahendra Bhokta and Satender Singh Bhokta, along with their wives, Manojwa Devi and Sunita Devi, were tied, blindfolded, and hung outside their house. A note was left stuck on the wall of the house accusing the family members of being responsible for the death of four Maoists who were killed earlier, allegedly by being poisoned as part of a conspiracy. The note alleges that the four Maoists weren’t killed in an encounter. Charging the four villagers with treason in a ‘kangaroo court’ (People’s organized by the Maoists), the four people were killed. The note concludes that traitors will be punished in the same way. The Maoists also mentioned the names of the four killed earlier, calling the murder of Amresh Kumar, Sita Kumar, Shivpujan Kumar, and Uday Kumar a conspiracy. Questions have also been raised about the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Police officers in the note, adds The Quint. Earlier, South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) had reported that four CPI-Maoist ‘commanders’ were killed in an exchange of fire with a team of Security Forces (SFs) comprising personnel from CRPF, Commando Battalions for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and the District Armed Police in the forests of Manubar village under Dumaria Police Station limits in Gaya District on March 16.

Armed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres allegedly abducted two villagers identified as Santosh Yadav (48) and Jagdish Yadav (45) and gunned them down on suspicion of being ‘police informers’ in Malikhedi village under Baihar Police Station limits in Balaghat District of Madhya Pradesh early on November 13, reports The New Indian Express. The abduction and killing of the two villagers by the Maoists is possibly linked to the killing of Sharda, a wanted woman Maoist, by Police in the same forest in November 2020. Both Santosh and Jagdish were abducted from their houses by four masked Maoists, including two armed women, in Malkhedi village under Baihar Police Station area at around 7 pm on November 12, and their bodies were spotted by villagers the nest day morning. A handwritten note bearing the name of Khatiya Mochi Area Committee of CPI-Maoist was recovered by Police from the spot where the two abducted men were found killed. The note cautioned the villagers not to turn ‘police informers’, failing which they would face a similar fate. The note also warned the young Balaghat Superintendent of Police (SP), Abhishek Tiwari not to use villagers as ‘police informers’. While confirming the horrific killing of the two villagers by armed Maoist cadres, SP, Tiwari said, "The search operations have been intensified in the concerned area. The abduction and killing is possibly connected to last year's police operation in which a wanted Maoist was killed in the same jungles."

A former Sarpanch (head of the Panchayat, village-level local self-Government institution) identified as Korasa Ramesh of Suraveedu Panchayat in Venkatapuram Mandal (administrative sub-division) in Khammam District of Telangana, was killed by cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) for allegedly being a ‘Police informer’ and his body dumped in Kottapalli village in Usur Taluka (revenue sub-division), in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh along Telangana border on December 22, reports The Times of India. The Sarpanch was called for a meeting on December 20 by the Maoists, but was subsequently abducted and killed. Police denied that he was an informer, accusing Maoists of targeting locals to create terror. According to Police, Korasa Ramesh had gone to Bheemaram in Chhattisgarh along with one Kurusam Ramesh of Eturunagaram in Mulugu District of Telangana after receiving a phone call from Sudhakar, a Maoist from Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad, Warangal. “At Bheemaram, Maoist militia members detained them, covered their eyes and took them to an unknown location after a six-hour trek. At 8.30 am on Tuesday [December 21], Korasa Ramesh was shifted to another location and around 10.30 am Kurusam Ramesh was left at Pusuguppa village in Cherla mandal by the Maoists,” Mulugu Superintendent of Police (SP), Sangram Singh Patil said. On December 21, the abducted man’s wife Rajitha, a contract Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) in Eturunagaram, had appealed to the Maoists to free her husband. But on December 22, Police received alert about body of Korasa Ramesh being found on a forest road at Kottapalli village (Bijapur), Chhattisgarh. In a handwritten letter released by CPI-Maoist Wajedu-Venkatapuram ‘area committee secretary’ Shanta, the Maoists said that Ramesh had been working for Police since 2019 and Sub-Inspector (SI) B Tirupathi had convinced him to inform on what Maoists asked him to procure. “Ramesh was paid Rs 35,000 by police to work for them. Police had even given him poison-mixed milk powder to deliver to party members. After consuming it, several of our comrades fell ill and one of them, M Bikshapathi alias Vijayender, died. Ramesh was also responsible for one encounter for which he received Rs 2 lakh from police. Ramesh has been killed for betraying the people and the Maoist party,” the letter stated.
