Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres killed a civilian identified as Ananda in Kerimiti village under Mahupadar Block (administrative unit) in Malkangiri District of Odisha on January 15, reports Kalinga TV. According to reports, a ‘Praja Court’ (people's court held by Maoists) organized by the extremist group has awarded the death penalty to Ananda, who was called upon and taken captive by the Maoists on January 13, and later on, he was allegedly beaten black and blue on January 14 by the Maoists and awarded death sentence on January 15. Subsequently, Ananda was then burnt alive said sources.

According to the information, the Supervisor renovating the pond received a call from TSPC's ‘zonal commander’ Dinesh ji who demanded ‘levy’ (extortion money). When the ‘levy’ demand was not met, around 10 o'clock [IST] in the night, seven-eight armed TSPC cadres reached the workplace in Sadam and beat up the workers, and later on set ablaze all three Hyva machines and a Poclain.

Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres set ablaze a soil testing machine engaged in bridge construction work in Pamed area in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on February 4 (today), reports bhaskar.com. The work of bridge construction has been started a few days ago on the Chintawagu River in Pamed area, about 80 kilometres from the Bijapur District Headquarters, and the machine was installed for soil testing on the banks of the river as the work was still in the initial stage. A camp of Security Forces (SFs) has been set up at the other end of the river, where the machines are kept for safety at the end of the work. When the Maoists who arrived in more than five in numbers in the night, put diesel in the machine and set it on fire, the soldiers fired paralite from the camp of the Security Forces (SFs) located on the other side of the river, due to which the Maoists fled.

Suspected Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres set ablaze two road construction equipment at Kiamunda village under Phiringia Police Station limits in Kandhamal District of Odisha on February 8, in protest against conducting the three-tier Panchayat (village level local-self-Government institution) elections in the State, reports India Today. Police said the ultras, suspected to be members of the ‘Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division’ of the banned CPI-Maoist, reached the construction site around midnight and torched the equipment. Some hand-written Maoist posters were also spotted at the scene, with an appeal to the villagers to boycott the ensuing Panchayat polls, withdrawal of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camps in the area and the district, and adequate payment of wages to labourers, P Shyamsundar Rao, the Inspector-in-Charge of Phiringia Police Station said.

Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres and its ‘jan militia’ (people’s army of Maoists) members, set ablaze six vehicles at a construction site at Chintaguppa village of Dummugudem Mandal (administrative sub-division) under Dummugudem Police Station limits in Bhadradri Kothagudem District of Telangana on February 22 evening, reports Telangana Today. The machines, including earth movers, concrete mixing machines and tractors, were engaged in construction of a bridge near Chintaguppa village. It was the first such incident committed by the Maoists in the last two years in the district. The last time the Maoists committed an offence in the district was in 2019 in which they abducted and killed a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)’ ex- Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) member N Srinivas Rao of Bestha Kothur village of Cherla Mandal in the district.
