Police also raided several places based on the information revealed by Aitu and recovered two AK-47 rifles, two self-loading rifles, two shot guns, 150 gelatine sticks and a wireless set. Inspector-General of Police, Giridhari Nayak, said the weapons were looted by Maoists after killing seven police personnel in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra in 2005. "Aitu is a big gun. He was a terror icon in Chhattisgarh as well as in Maharashtra and sneaked into Dongargarh a few days ago from his forest hideout in Bastar, probably for medical treatment," an unnamed police official told IANS. "Aitu was involved in several offences, including an attack on a police party last year in which several policemen, including a DSP, were injured and another attack in which a train engine was set afire at Darrekasa," added the Rajnandgaon district Superintendent of Police, P.
