Two United National Liberation Front (UNLF) militants allegedly involved in a series of killing of alleges rapists were arrested on January 17 from Top Khongnangkhong in Imphal East District, reports Nagaland Post. Four fire arms, 11 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the arrestees. The arrestees were identified as Kloijam Jiten Singh alias Kanglenjao and Athokpam Somokanta Singh alias Inaocha. The SP alleged that the two arrested cadres were involved in killing two alleged rapists in separate incidents in August 2017 at Takyel Khongbal and at Thanga in Bishnupur District in September 2019.

Two United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) militants suspected to be involved in the January 26 bomb blast at Teok ghat (Charaideo District) were arrested from Sepakathi in Charaideo District in Assam on January 29, reports The Telegraph. The arrestees were identified as Manas Jyoti Padmavat alias Bastab Jyoti Asom and Chow Lakhi Longno alias Rubul Asom. One 5.56mm AR HK33 rifle with 33 live rounds and two magazines were recovered from the cadres. They had joined ULFA-I in 2009 and 2017 respectively. East Mojo adds that Charaideo Superintendent of Police (SP) Anand Mishra stated that "It is suspected that the duo are part of a six-member 'crack-gang' of ‘Arohan’ of ULFA-I and were recently seen hovering the inter-state border of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh-Nagaland in the last few days before the blast took place."The Sentinel adds that arrestees were part of the crack group led by Apurba Gogoi alias Arohan Asom which is suspected to be behind the Serial Blast.

Armung Terang is a Self-Styled ‘Lance Corporal’ and Longkam Dera is PT (Private trainer, rank not conferred yet) of PDCKL. On February 17, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Imphal West, K Meghachandra, disclosed the modus operandi behind the arrest of three arrestees. Based on specific information, during frisking and checking of suspected vehicles along Imphal-Moreh road, one couple identified as Samukcham Mobi and Huidrom Ningol Lairenlakpam Ongbi Ibemcha was arrested along with eight 1.5 Volt batteries connected in series (usually used to detonate IEDs) concealed in a black plastic polythene bag in the car, adds E-Pao. Their interrogation led to another arrest of Lourembam Bhumeshwor who further revealed the plan of a PLA militant identified as Robertson to conduct IED blast in Telopati area. More explosives were detected in the store room of the NRL Telepati City 1 oil pump such as an IED fashioned out of a claymore, a remote control, a transistor, two 9-volt batteries, a detonator, 9 mm ammunition and a mobile phone.

On November 28, two militants belonging to United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and Kanglei Yoel Kanna Lup (KYKL) respectively were arrested from separate locations in Manipur, reports Northeast Now. The UNLF militant identified as H Ranjit was arrested along with arms and ammunition including a .38 pistol with a magazine loaded with five live rounds under the Lamlai Police Station of Imphal East District in Manipur. On the other hand, during a search operation, a 9 mm pistol with a magazine loaded with three live rounds was recovered from Kh Nanao, a KYKL militant under Kumbi Police Station of Bishnupur District of Manipur.

The arrestee who was holding the post of ‘town commander’ of Imphal East district of UNLF joined the outfit in 1995. Following on the information revealed during his interrogation, arms and ammunition including two AK 56 rifles, four AK-56 magazines, 143 live rounds of AK-56, nine empty cases of AK ammunitions, one 9mm pistol marked as ‘Pietro Beretta Gardone VT-Made in Italy’, ‘L96335Z’, ‘MOD .92 FS-CAL Parabellum-PATENTED” along with magazines loaded with 10 live rounds, one 0.38 pistol marked as ‘B06505’ along with nine live rounds in the magazine, three electronic circuits, two dry cell batteries, one remote control device and a wire of length about 4 metres was recovered from Tomba’s residence. According to police sources, the seized items were used to threaten the public of Tiger Camp near Litan Makhong, Imphal East in the last two months which included firing along with his associates namely, Shanta and Ranjit who are also the cadres of the same outfit. Tomba is also involved in distribution of welfare monetary allowance to the family of the cadres and extortion of money from the general public, government officials, businessmen and others.
