If you see the letter of the US secretary of state, in the letter, too, an emphasis was made on the ceasefire, as well as in the peace plan presented by Zalmay Khalilzad. Afghanistan’s Ambassador to India, Farid Mamundzay on March 30, said that India, being a major power in the region, should be a part of the Afghan peace process at various forums as the country is suffering from international terrorism, reports bignewsnetwork.com. "India is an important partner to Afghanistan... We want India to be a part of all those forums and talks where peace is discussed. The peace of Afghanistan impacts India as well... India has adopted a principled position in the Afghan peace process. We would want India's presence in those forums," the Afghan envoy said. Speaking on Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's remarks at the 9th Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference, the envoy said that Kabul was expecting the violence to drop after the agreement was made by the United States and the Taliban. "Sadly, the level of violence hasn't dropped to the extent that common Afghans were expecting," he said.

On May 11, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and General Sir Nick Carter, Britain’s Chief of the Defence Staff and Head of the British Armed Forces, in Kabul, reports Bakhtar News. The peace process, Afghanistan’s relations with Pakistan, Pakistan’s role in the peace process and end of violence in Afghanistan were discussed in the meeting, the Palace said. In this meeting, President Ghani said that the role of countries in the region, especially Pakistan, is critical for peace in Afghanistan due to its influence on the Taliban. He said the two countries have no option but mutual respect and good neighbourly and economic cooperation, according to the Palace statement.

Secretary Blinken conveyed Eid greetings and expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those lost in recent violence in Afghanistan, including in the horrific attack on a girls’ school in Kabul last week, the US State Department said in a statement. The attack on Sayed Al-Shuhada school that killed over 60 students and wounded 150 more. The statement said “the Secretary conveyed America’s steadfast support for the US-Afghan partnership and for Afghanistan’s security forces." “We support our partnership and Afghan security forces,” Blinken tweeted after phone call with Ghani.

On November 12, the United States (U.S.) Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, signed the agreement making Qatar the U.S. "protecting power" in Afghanistan at a State Department ceremony after holding talks, reports Reuters. “Qatar will establish a U.S. interest section within its embassy in Afghanistan to provide certain consular services and monitor the condition and security of U.S. diplomatic facilities in Afghanistan," Blinken said. The United States and Qatar signed an accord for Qatar to represent U.S. diplomatic interests in Afghanistan, an important signal of possible future direct engagement between Washington and the Taliban after two decades of war.
