According to news report, the incident was caused by twin bombs that were planted on playground at an all-Shi’te Muslim residence in the city. Two more bomb were defused. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the explosions. Earlier, SATP had reported two fatalities in the incident that was described to be a car bomb blast.

Haji Malek was one of the people close to Ahmad Shah Massoud. After the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, he raised the Taliban banner in Dara District. Haji Malek was appointed as the director of Taliban intelligence in the Police headquarters of Panjshir Province after the Taliban took control of Panjshir. But the Taliban imprisoned him after some time. After being released from prison, Haji Malek joined the NRF. During the past few months, he had inflicted heavy casualties on the Taliban.
