Unidentified gunmen ambushed a car in Amphary
in Gilgit, leaving a
16-year-old girl and
an infant wounded on
August 29, reports Dawn.
Police said that a cleric
Qari Khan Mohammad was
going in his car along
with his family members
when he came under attack.
They said that the Qari
escaped unhurt, but
two of his family members
were wounded. The Police
said that they had arrested
two suspects following
the attack.

Markets remained closed and law-enforcement
agencies enhanced patrolling
the streets, as tension
continued to grip the
city. Also, traffic
from Gilgit to other
Districts remained suspended,
while almost none of
the officials attended
Government offices.
Meanwhile, GB Inspector General (IG)
of Police Usman Zakriya
ordered arrest of an
assistant sub-inspector
(ASI) and three officials
for providing opportunity
to the murderers of
a Police Constable to
flee, according to Daily
Times. ASI Muhammad
Hassan and three soldiers,
Aijaz Hassan, Muhammad
Afzal and Shujaat Ali,
enabled the assassins
of the Police Constable,
Shah Jamaluddin, to
escape from the incident
site. As reported earlier,
Jamaluddin was killed
by terrorists at Raqas
Chowk on August 25. |
