Another 75 LTTE cadres to be released next month

Sri Lankan authorities are to release another 75 former Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) next month, who have successfully completed their rehabilitation programme, reports Colombo Page. The former LTTE cadres will be handed over to their relatives at a function on 2nd June in Vavuniya.

The pro-LTTE lobby in the United Kingdom is planning to stage protests when President Mahindra Rajapaksa arrives in London to participate in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, reports The Island. Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate 60 years on the throne on June 5.

Meanwhile, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is yet to announce its official position regarding its participation in the Parliament Select Committee (PSC), reports Daily News. TNA MP Suresh Premachandra on May 27 said that their party has not decided about having talks with the Government on participating in the PSC sessions.
