leader Gundeti
Shankar, popularly
known as Seshanna
and Maheshanna,
died of a snake
bite three days
ago, according
to reliable
sources, reports
The Hindu
on March 22.
Shankar was
believed to
be taking shelter
in the forest
areas of Chhattisgarh
on the borders
of Telangana
Districts of
Andhra Pradesh.
He was a member
of North Telangana
Special Zonal
Committee (NTSZC)
and was also
appointed as
the secretary
of the Adilabad
District committee.
Shankar, sources
said, was bitten
by a snake on
the night of
March 17 but
did not take
any treatment
believing that
it was a rat
that bit him.
He died a day
later.
Shanker,
hailed from
Godavarikhani
area of Karimnagar
District, and
was known to
be as comfortable
in penning revolutionary
poems as he
was with his
Kalashnikov
rifle. He was
believed to
have headed
the State Military
Commission (SMC)
and worked as
commander of
the military
platoon of People's
Liberation Guerrilla
Army (PLGA)
in 2000. Shankar
was believed
to have participated
in several high-profile
Maoist assaults
on Police teams
including the
famous raid
on Sirpur Utnoor
Police Station
in Adilabad
District of
Andhra Pradesh. |
