NNC appreciates FNR stand in Nagaland

Nagaland Post reports that Naga National Council (NNC) on March 12 said that after thorough deliberation it welcomed the resolutions adopted on February 29 (in Dimapur) at the Naga Reconciliation Meeting (NRM) under the banner of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), especially the 3rd resolution that “made about the NNC this time as rightly stated.”  The third resolution, besides others, acknowledged the “monumental role” of the NNC and its contribution under the presidencies of T Aliba Imti, Mhondamo Kithan, Visar Angami and AZ Phizo, for upholding the “historical and political rights” of the Nagas and their lands. The NNC also said the “very stand taken by the FNR this time is appreciated and supported by the Parent Body of the Nagas (NNC).” Meanwhile, State Governor Nikhil Kumar appreciated the overwhelming response to the NRM organized by FNR and said that it was strong indication of the people’s desire for peace and reconciliation.

However, the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM), while appreciating the tireless efforts of the FNR towards bringing all the Naga outfits into one fold, said on March 12 that it cannot accept in toto the resolutions adopted by the FNR during the NRM, reports The Times of India. The joint council of the NSCN-IM held a meeting on March 3 to discuss the resolutions adopted in the reconciliation meeting and unanimously agreed that the resolutions contained certain flaws and politically untenable points.
