Nepal
UCPN-M leaders fail to impress NC with the Unity Government proposal

A meeting between the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) and the Nepali Congress (NC) leaders held on November 8 ended without any sign of consensus on finding a way out of the protracted deadlock anytime soon, reports Nepal News. UCPN-M chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal urged the NC leadership to allow the Government to present the budget for the remaining period of the current fiscal year. He also asked the NC to join the current Government to give it the shape of a unity Government. NC leaders were quick to reject Dahal's proposal.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, on October 7, warned former king Gyanendra Shah of cutting facilities being provided by the Government if he tried to take benefit of countrys transition. He also clarified that ownership of ex-kings parental property has been transferred to Nepal Trust and he had no rights to claim the property.
