The NIA Special Court of Patna, Bihar sentenced five accused-Imtiyaz
Ansari, Haider Ali, Mujib Ullah, Omair Siddiqui, and Azharuddin
Qureishi to life imprisonment in 2013 Bodh Gaya Blasts. However,
sixth accused-Taufique Ahmed (a juvenile in 2013) was earlier
sentenced of three years of confinement in a remand home. Along
with life imprisonment, Judge Manoj Kumar Sinha also imposed
a fine of INR 10,000 on all convicts. All five accused were
members of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and
had connections with Indian Mujahideen (IM) outfit. On July
7, 2013, nine serial bombs exploded in the Buddhist pilgrim
town, causing injuries to five people, including two monks.
